One of London’s Historic Pubs

Directly opposite the Kiln Theatre the Black Lion bar is a comfortable, popular and aesthetically appealing pub. The Black Lion was rebuilt after the great Fire of London. There has always been a pub on this site since the 6th Century. The original pub was thought to have been the haunt of the infamous Dick Turpin on his jaunts to London. After enjoying a few jolly ales he would ride off to rob on the aptly named Shoot Up Hill.
